Keys Provided

The Keys provided before you arrive at Conygres open the main door (adjacent to road) into the barn building and operate the Generator (see below). The main door has a padlock, mortice lock and two security turn bolts.

Keys at Conygres

Inside the leaders room, which is just to the right of the main door, is the key for the ‘long storeroom’. The ‘long storeroom’ is one side of the quadrangle. This key is normally next to the generator control panel. The ‘long storeroom’ houses alter fires etc.

Electricity

It is the intention of Wotton Scouts and Guides to have mains electricity installed at Conygres but until it is, electricity is generated by a generator situated at one end of the ‘long storeroom’. The control panel is in the leader’s room and instructions for its use should be on the wall adjacent to the control.

Water

Users who have been to Conygres before will find that the field stand pipe has been replaced with a water supply into the kitchen. One stop cock within the kitchen controls the water supply generally and a second the kitchen sink.

Toilets

The toilets have been undergoing improvements and most units are new. Sinks have been installed. The toilets flow out to a septic tank so do not flush items down the toilets and avoid the use of cleaning products like bleach that will interfere with the chemicals in the septic tank.

Camp Fires and Barbecues

Fires etc which damage the field should be avoided. The Alter Fires and the large circular steel fire platform should be used instead. The Alter Fires are stored in the long storeroom are users are free to use this equipment but are requested to clean units and put them back in the long store after use. Wood for camp fires can be obtained from the adjacent wood. There is usually sufficient wood lying on the floor of the wood and in the interest of conservation axes and saws should not be used to gather fuel.

Milk / Food Supplies

Horton Dairies will deliver milk, bread, eggs and yoghurt on request (ring 01666 890218) and shops open late are listed in the attached Contacts sheet.
